Visiting Washington, DC
Washington, D.C. is a city that makes history. Allow time before or after the conference to discover our nation’s capital by visiting iconic American sights like the Library of Congress and the Lincoln Memorial. Or, plug in to the 21st-century energy of interactive attractions like the International Spy Museum and The Newseum.

The Potomac Riverboat Company is now offering a water taxi service from the Gaylord National. The water taxi is available to and from selected destinations in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas. For more information, please visit the Potomac Riverboat Company’s website.

The National Mall, home to many of the magnificent museums of the Smithsonian Institution, is a great place to visit. See magnificent jewels, dinosaurs and mammals on display at the National Museum of Natural History, amazing milestones in the history of flight at the National Air and Space Museum, and the compelling history and artistry of Native Americans at the National Museum of the American Indian. And all of these museums are free of charge. The museums also offer free tours to groups who reserve in advance.

There’s even more to explore on the National Mall. Art lovers won’t want to miss the stellar collections of the National Gallery of Art, while the National Archives is a must for any American history buff.

DC also shines at night. Venture out to see the historic sights by moonlight for an intriguingly unique perspective. Enjoy dinner downtown or at a Capitol Hill neighborhood eatery then go to Union Station. The glorious train station is the departure point for tours of the monuments at night offered by Tourmobile and Old Town Trolley. Bike and Roll and City Segway Tours (ages 16 & up) also offer evening tours in season departing from other points in the city.
